Social media giant Meta had released a new update for child safety earlier this month in which the company had placed children’s accounts in the most restrictive category. Due to this, small children will not see any sensitive and harmful content in Explore and Feeds. Meanwhile, the company has taken another step for child safety and has imposed a new restriction on children’s accounts. This restriction will apply to accounts of children under 16 years of age or under the age of 18 (as per law).
Actually, the company has changed the DM settings for the accounts of small children and now only their followers or people in their contacts can message them. Unknown people will not be able to send messages to children. With this step, Meta will protect children from many types of crimes which have become common on social media these days. Apart from this, only the people connected with the children will be able to add them to the groups. Meta is implementing this change in Messenger also.
Parents will get this option
Meta has also changed the settings of Parental Supervision on Facebook and Instagram. If you supervise your child’s account, then after the new update, if your child changes the settings, especially things related to privacy and security, then a review option will appear in your account. In this you can verify or deny the action. Through this option, Meta is giving parents better control over their children’s accounts. Till now, what used to happen was that parents would get only one notification that the child has changed the settings.
